As the Rack Inspection Manager, I am responsible for overseeing and participating in the inspection and assessment of damage to customer pallet racking and recommending appropriate corrective action, ensuring successful customer outcomes, in order to contribute to sustained and profitable Company growth. In this role, I have had the support of up to two rack maintenance advisers on my team.
Key Skills
- Management, recruitment and co-ordination of a team of up to two junior rack inspectors;
- Development and delivery of training packages to subordinate staff, contractors and customers;
- On-site inspection and auditing of pallet racking systems including:
- Co-ordination and follow up with customers for regular inspection and maintenance programs;
- Ensuring the safety of self and other team members whilst on live sites with high forklift traffic;
- Creation of as-built drawings;
- Assessment and analysis of existing rack structures against AS 4084—1993 and AS 4084—2012; and
- Inspection and assessment of damage to pallet racks.
- Analysis and interpretation of data gathered from site;
- Delivery of a concise, well-finished and professional final report to customer;
- Development, upkeep and maintenance of customer database, report templates and drawing library for use by subordinates; and
- Brand development, marketing and lead-chasing of new business, as well as ensuring high customer retention and satisfaction.
Notable Achievements
- Had the opportunity to build a new brand “from the ground up” and enjoyed many successes in doing so;
- Successfully tendered for and fulfilled a contract with Woolworths Limited for the annual inspection and auditing of all of their distribution centres nationally, over three years;
- Designed, oversaw development and implemented a world-first voice-to-database speech recognition program to enhance the safety of inspectors whilst on site performing rack inspections, while significantly increasing the accuracy of the data taken and improving the efficiency of data input, analysis and reporting; and
- Earned the respect and support of many industry players (including representatives of multi-national companies), including opposition companies.
