As the Design & Engineering Manager, I am responsible for the provision of expert project design, estimating and associated data services to support Company sales and project installations, ensuring successful customer outcomes, and to contribute to sustained and profitable Company growth. In this role, I have had the support of up to three designers/estimators on my team.

Key Skills

• Development, maintenance and upkeep of drawing library of parts, assemblies and project drawings;
• Assess and understand customers’ operational requirements, in order to design systems improve their workflow and to do so economically;
• Design, estimating and writing of tender responses to all levels government, and to large private companies (construction, FMCG, 3PL, etc.);
• Ensure continual improvements in design & presentation tools to assist both the sales and construction business units;
• Contribute to synergised, positive outcomes for all business units;
• Demonstrate design and technical drawing ability of a high standard and related experience in a manufacturing or construction environment;
• Maintain proficiency in computer applications, including Word, Excel, AutoCAD and Inventor at an advanced level;
• Sound analytical and estimating skills and understanding of storage system construction processes and load specifications, including materials, labour and logistical requirements; and
• Effective written and oral communication skills with clients, suppliers, business contacts and work colleagues.

Notable Achievements

• Developed and built countless design and management tools including:
  • Dynamic blocks, content libraries and templates (AutoCAD) and table-driven iParts, iAssemblies (Autodesk Inventor);
  • Estimating and design calculators (MS Excel), including load rating calculators and costing calculators; and
  • Project management registers, Gantt charts, flow charts and process documents.
  • Designed new products from concept stage right through to procurement and supply;
• Travelled to factories in various cities of China in 2011 and helped to successfully negotiate and confirm supply of various light-duty storage products; and
• Designed, estimated and assisted sales representatives to win projects up to $3.3M, plus ongoing expansion projects (one customer accounted for $5.3M business over 5 years).
